TEAM MEMBER TRAINING MANUAL, 1997 Intended for use by Explorers taking ESAR training. This manual includes sections on Search Techniques, equipment, food, clothing, wilderness navigation, communications, helicopter procedures, hypothermia and desert searches. 88 pages.

BEGINNING AN ESAR PROGRAM, 1974. Intended for leaders of newly forming ESAR units. This booklet covers aspects of the ESAR role, administrative structure, establishing relationships with official SAR agencies and other SAR units, finances, equipment, communications, roles of adults, liability, and other topics. 36 pages.

AN ESAR TRAINING PROGRAM, 1972. A detailed outline of a council level ESAR training program. Includes description of field courses, sequence of training and outlines of lectures. 39 pages.

THE USE OF STRING LINES FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE, 1973. Describes the use of string lines for confinement, search area segmentation, and grid sweeping control. Diagrams and a parts list are given for construction of a string dispenser.

AN EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF GRID SWEEP SEARCHING, 1974. Experimental data is reported on the thoroughness and efficiency of sweep searching. Variables considered include: between person spacing, types of search objects, day or night, team speed, and effects of practice. 50 pages.

AN ESAR INFORMATION UNIT, 1975. A description of the training procedures, and equipment used by those whose responsibility it is to maintain a search operations map and provide related services. 27 pages.

THE TAYLOR MOUNTAIN EVIDENCE SEARCH, 1975. A description of the methods and techniques used in a massive seven day search for four missing women in a rugged wilderness area. 25 pages.
